When Your Mask Is Your Revealing Feature By The Oranges Band

The Oranges Band's newest album... The Oranges Band Are Invisible is gonna have it's official release (I think) later this year, but you can already get your hands on it here or here. In case you missed it, I posted one track from the album last year. Here is another track with a pretty different feel to it. I can't quite put my finger on the reference Mr. Kuebler is making here. It will come to me sometime after the post goes up. Anyway, listen to this...

Had Enough By Gun Outfit

I was checking out the new website of Dean Spunt's (1/2 of No Age) Post Present Medium label and the new Gun Outfit 7" caught my eye. Their band page lists the influences of the Olympia Washington, uhh, outfit as (1) Meat Puppets and (2) Dinosaur Jr. Sounding good. It also says: "GUN OUTFIT create their own sound that is equal parts melody, jangle, punk and pop." Sounding real good. After a little clicking, I found their demo. Listen.

Art Star By The Oranges Band

OK people, time get ready for a 2009 release. I am talking about the next Oranges Band album... The Oranges Band Are Invisible. It is going to be released in February next year.

The album sounds like this.

Downloadable: "Art Star" (box.net mp3)

It looks like this.

The Oranges Band Are Invisible

The Oranges Band presently consists of original members Roman Kuebler and Dave Voyles, plus there are two new faces rounding out the quartet on this recording... Doug Gillard (former GBV) and Pat Martin (of Never Enough).

Oh, and if you must have the album before it's official release, the band is doing a "limited edition pre-release" of the album. A hand assembled album package will be available at a few shows on the east coast in November and also through mail order after November 14th (specifics TK). One such show is at The Bell House in Brooklyn:

Saturday November 15, 2008
The Bell House (149 7th St.)
With A.C. Newman (of The New Pornographers), Bird of Youth

Hopefully, there will be mucho touring around the Metro NYC area in support of the new album next year.
