Boes By The Mae Shi

Statement: I am excited.

Explanation: I've got two songs from The Mae Shi to share with you. The first is a bonus track that I think makes a great album closer. Better than "Divine Harvest" which has all that pots and pans clanging at the end? Depends how much you like pots and pans, I guess. It does have a similar quality to "Divine Harvest." The uke(?) in both songs has a whole "Not with a bang but a whimper" quality. The second song I have for you is, how should I put this, CATCHY... some may call it "annoying-yet-catchy," but I call it simply catchy as I am not annoyed by slightly more than brief breaks into feedback.

Downloadables Deleted Because Of Complaint:
"Boes" (box.net mp3)
"The Melody" (box.net mp3)

Streamable: "Run To Your Grave" (youtube)

All Remote And No Control By Eric Avery

Hey, listen to this: "All Remote And No Control" (box.net mp3) by Eric Avery

Some brief bio deets: Eric Avery is probably best know as the bassist for Jane's Addiction. After Jane's, along with Dave Navarro he recorded the Deconstruction album (which is freaking amazing... get it used here). Since then he has worked with Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins, and (gulp) Alanis Morissette. He tried out for Metallica (but wasn't picked), and was invited to join Tool (but declined). He also had his own band for a while (from 1995-2000), Polar Bear.

Now, he has a solo album entitled Help Wanted. It will be released on April 8th.

Rattled By The Rush By Pavement

So I must say. I am pretty underwhelmed by this recent Pavement reunion talk.

Me, I like their studio recordings.

Compare these apples and oranges:
"Rattled By The Rush" (matador mp3)
"Rattled By The Rush (Live)" (youtube)
"Heckler Spray/In The Mouth Of A Desert (Live)" (matador mp3)

So if you are all psyched to see Mr. Nastanovich get his groove on, that's fine. I just don't think I'll be paying steep prices for no 90's indie rock nostalgia. The Pixies were enough for me.
