I first heard CFCF (a/k/a Michael Silver of Montreal, CA) when I dl'ed those HEALTH//DISCO remixes which blew my mind into pieces last year. When I heard he was working on original material, I do believe I squealed with a Ren-ish "EEEEEEEEE." Were my expectations a little high? Probably. Anyway, his EP will drop on January 20th. It is called Panesian Nights. Here is a taste.

"We recorded three Sebadoh songs for our "Freed Seed" 7" EP (with Seed Toss as the A-Side) back in 1991, but chose not to include all three on the Tossing Seeds singles comp, leaving off I Believe in Fate which was the least successful of the three...Superchunk always operates most effectively at mid- or high- but not top-speed and this came out sounding a bit like someone's high school hardcore band doing the two-step, and doesn't convey any of the darkness of the original Barlow version. But here it is digitally at last, good for a laugh at least.... Then go break out your Weed Forestin' tape!"

A seven-piece with two drums, two guitars, two vocalists, and one other guy (I guess he plays bass). A supergroup comprised of members of Tuxedo Killers, Awesome Cool Dudes & Oh, Beast!. The full length, Not Noiice will be released May 13th on Chalk Circle (Wow! what a web presence).
