A Career Open to Talent By Motico

Two more Motico H4 recordings have appeared on the interweb. If you don't know the duo's brand of SKINNG GRRR postpunk, then you need to listen to the mp3s below.

Downloadables:
"A Career Open to Talent" (box.net mp3)
"Floss Picks Dix" (box.net mp3)

Editor's Note: I went with the Big Black reference above. But now I (kinda) think that I should have said... "I refer to Motico as Motico Of North America when I am feeling pompous." If you got the Big Black reference and not what I am talking about here, shame on you.

Had Enough By Gun Outfit

I was checking out the new website of Dean Spunt's (1/2 of No Age) Post Present Medium label and the new Gun Outfit 7" caught my eye. Their band page lists the influences of the Olympia Washington, uhh, outfit as (1) Meat Puppets and (2) Dinosaur Jr. Sounding good. It also says: "GUN OUTFIT create their own sound that is equal parts melody, jangle, punk and pop." Sounding real good. After a little clicking, I found their demo. Listen.

Downloadable: "Had Enough" (box.net mp3)

I Believe In Fate (Sebadoh Cover) By Superchunk

There is an excellent new SCORE freebie I noticed the other day. It is a cover. It is a cover that totally changes the feel of the original. I share it with you now.

Downloadable: "I Believe In Fate (Sebadoh Cover)" (box.net mp3) by Superchunk

You can get the FLAC (if you swing that way)... here.

Listen to the original: "I Believe In Fate" (box.net mp3) by Sebadoh

This is what Mac had to say about the cover:
"We recorded three Sebadoh songs for our "Freed Seed" 7" EP (with Seed Toss as the A-Side) back in 1991, but chose not to include all three on the Tossing Seeds singles comp, leaving off I Believe in Fate which was the least successful of the three...Superchunk always operates most effectively at mid- or high- but not top-speed and this came out sounding a bit like someone's high school hardcore band doing the two-step, and doesn't convey any of the darkness of the original Barlow version. But here it is digitally at last, good for a laugh at least.... Then go break out your Weed Forestin' tape!"

Palmitos Park (El Guincho Cover) By Ruby Suns

Yes yes yes... this was available earlier this week on the Forkcast. But I am hoping that your rss feed for Pitchfork has been down.

Download: "Palmitos Park (El Guincho Cover)" (box.net mp3) as performed by The Ruby Suns

Can't say it is as good as the original, but you can understand the lyrics, sorta... well more than the original anyway: "Palmitos Park" (beggars mp3)
